Dental Bonding for Winston-Salem & Clemmons, NC
Bonding is an alternative to veneers and can be used as a restorative procedure for teeth that are chipped, cracked, discolored or malaligned.
How does it work?
The tooth is prepared for the procedure by lightly roughening the surface followed by the application of a bonding agent or adhesive. Once the adhesive is cured by the use of a special LED light, a plastic resin is applied and sculpted into the desired shape by your dentist. After the resin has hardened, it is then contoured, smoothed and polished to provide a natural appearance.
The bonding procedure can often be completed in a single office visit and can significantly improve the appearance of teeth. However, since the plastic resin used is not as strong as your natural tooth enamel, it is more likely to stain, chip or break than natural teeth. Depending on the specific concern present, Dr. Pruitt, Miller, Stowe, Steinbicker or Taylor will consult with you prior to treatment to determine if an alternative procedure such as crowns or veneers may me more appropriate.
