Dental Bridges

Replace missing teeth with a stable natural-looking restoration.

A dental bridge is a fixed restoration used to replace one or more missing teeth. It “bridges” the space by using the neighboring teeth — or, in some cases, dental implants — to support a natural-looking replacement tooth.

When a tooth is missing, it can affect more than your smile. Nearby teeth may begin to shift, chewing can become less comfortable, and the balance of your bite may change over time. A bridge can help restore function, improve appearance, and maintain proper spacing between teeth.

How a Dental Bridge Works

A traditional bridge usually involves placing crowns on the teeth on either side of the missing tooth. These crowns support the replacement tooth, called a pontic, which fills the open space. Once cemented in place, the bridge is not removable and is designed to feel stable and comfortable during everyday chewing and speaking.

In some situations, an implant-supported bridge may be recommended, especially when multiple teeth are missing or when preserving the neighboring teeth is a priority. During your visit, our dentists will evaluate your teeth, gums, bite, and overall goals to help determine which option is most appropriate.

What to Expect

The process typically involves preparing the supporting teeth, taking a digital scan or impression, and placing a temporary bridge while the final restoration is made. Once the final bridge is ready, we carefully check the fit, bite, and appearance before cementing it into place.

Caring for a Dental Bridge

Bridges are designed to be durable, but good home care is important. Brushing, flossing around the bridge, and cleaning underneath the replacement tooth help protect the supporting teeth and gums. Our team will show you the best way to care for your bridge so it can function well for years to come.
