State-of-the-Art Dental Implants
for Winston-Salem, Wallburg, Lexington, & Greensboro, NC

Our Professionals Excel in Dental Implant Dentistry.

Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel and function just like your own. By restoring those teeth that have been lost, our patients are able to regain the ability to eat virtually anything and can also smile with confidence knowing that their new teeth appear natural. In addition, dental implants can help preserve facial structure, preventing the bone deterioration which occurs when teeth are missing.

Dental implants are small titanium posts which are placed into the jawbone where teeth have been removed. The bone surrounding the implant integrates with the titanium, creating a strong core from which artificial teeth can then be attached.

Dental Implant Procedure

Dental implants are essentially metal anchors which act as a substitute for a tooth root. These small posts are surgically placed into the jawbone which, once integrated with the adjacent bone, provide stable anchors for artificial replacement teeth.

For most patients, the placement of dental implants involves two surgical procedures. First, the implants are placed within your jawbone. For the first three to six months following surgery, the implants are beneath the surface of the gums, gradually fusing with the bone that surrounds it. If needed for cosmetic or functional reasons, you should be able to wear temporary dentures during this transitional period.

Once your dental implants have successfully integrated, the second phase begins. The surgeon or periodontist will first uncover the implant(s) and attach a small healing collar. Dr. Pruitt, Miller, Stowe, Steinbicker, or Taylor will then take a detailed impression from which we will design the appropriate crown, bridgework or denture for your specific situation which will ultimately improve both your ability to function as well as esthetics.

The entire procedure usually takes six to eight months and most patients do not experience any disruption in their daily life. Please click on the link below to view an informative presentation on the many ways that dental implants can improve your smile!
